I wanna do performing arts?

Joesph Smithmyer: You might enjoy reading the memoir "Mozart in the Jungle: Sex, Drugs, and Classical Music" by Blair Tindall. Part of it recounts her experiences at an American performing arts school that had a theatre department as well as music and other arts.

Moises Rupinski: Performing arts is a very active and ever-changing profession and if you overall goal is to be in the limelight- it'll help you do that but it also has a lot of other jobs tied into it which you can learn on a performing arts course. I say, if you really want, give it a go (but decide on back ups as well). It'll help bring you out of your shell and teach you all that dancing stuff but don't worry too much about making a 'permanent' lifestyle choice- if you don't like it just change the course- it is actually quite easy too and wherever you go will help do what is best for you....Show more

Kaley Lappas: Who cares if you are not very talented. Do it - there is only one way to get better! and to see if you truly love it. Practice and try it. It's also a great way to get over your little bit of stage fright. Just go in there every day with a positive attitude and do your best. Once you are in the class, you'll get a better idea of a career path to go with it. You can see if you can get good enough to get into a band or try out for parts in plays, etc...or even try acting. Or, perhaps you will want to turn around and teach performing arts to other people one day. There are other jobs around a stage too, where you are not performing, but you are around the arts: stage managers, tech hands (lighting, sound, grips, etc) and front of house people. Good luck!...Show more
