Why do car companies make concept cars?

Providencia Jalbert: they make them to take them to car shows and stuff and they actually make them if enough people like it. they go buy how many people actually like them.usually not many get built because not enough people voted on the car for the company to decide to put it on mass production.check out the Nissan Cube its unique but obviously enough people liked it for them to make it....Show more

Rosalia Hibler: They use the technology and improve the concept car into something that eventually becomes a new model or is done away with. If it weren't for concept cars, we'd all be driving model t's

Barrett Zheng: Valid point. Maybe for publicity.

Carolynn Testani: To test new ideas on the public and see what the reaction is. Many cars we drive today are derived from concept cars.

Donnell Nocella: THE CONCEPT CAR MAY NOT ALL BE RELEASED BUT IT IS THE WAY THAT A CAR COMPANY TESTS WHAT THE PEOPLE WANTS & TO TRY OUT SOME NEW IDEAS. iF THE CAR COMPA! NIES DID NOT DO THIS WE MIGHT STILL BE DRIVING A MODEL T, OR WORST YET WHAT EVER THEY WANTED TO GIVE US.

Rosalia Hibler: to test look-design theory paints new mfg ideas and let design people and engineers have a go at it

Debora Soliani: Car companies use concept cars to gauge customer response, showcase new technologies, and gain publicity. A few examples of concept cars that made production on some level, The Plymouth Prowler, Chevy SSR, and Dodge Viper. Though they rarely make it to production without some changes or loss of features.

Kalyn Proietto: It's a 50-50 chance. A concept cars main purpose is to showcase a new styling, technology and more. They're often shown at motor shows to just make the audience happy into thinking it's going to be produced when it's really not. Some concept cars get produced and some don't. There was a concept car named the Chevrolet Corvette Mako Shark". It was later produced into the 1968-1982 Chevrolet Corvette....Show m! ore
