anyone else addicted to genealogy?
answers1: There are much worse things you could be doing at 16 :)

Enjoy it, there will be a time when you will find other things to do,
but for now, get all the information you can. I love to explore
cemeteries, the older, the better and love sites like FindaGrave.com
to look for ones to go to. Always keep your information and don't let
anything happen to it--you will want to read it all again when you are
61!
answers2: I am 79, and have been into Genealogy for over 50 years,
both mine and my late husband. It's interesting, but difficult, as we
are both of German extraction,(with a little Holland thrown in) In
talking to relatives, you find out that many ancestors have somewhat
of a shady past, but the truth will out, if you follow the wedding
dates and birth dates, etc,, but it's interesting, and something to
hand down to your children, if you also put little stories about your
parents, grandparents in them, if you can remember your involvement
with them. Don't forget to put in your schooling, how you celebrated
the holidays,etc..Diana O.
answers3: I can happily admit I am addicted to it. It is nice to see a
young person is doing this too. I am 18 years old and have been
researching since I was 13. I just love learning about my ancester's
and their descendents past and walking throught their footsteps.
answers4: Yes I am. I never paid much attention to what my mother said
about so and so being married to so and so. She knows all about that.
She is a walking geneology library. I was not interested and became
annoyed with her over having to listen to it.

Then my dad developed alzhimers and my mother became very depressed.
She and I have nothing in common. I am a computer addict too. I
thought that I could use her knowledge to make the family tree
and find them on the internet. It worked and we became closer and she
was not so depressed for we were on the phone and writing letters and
so on.

I became hooked. It is like a big puzzle. I have found the trees back
to other countries and found the ones no one could find before. :)

What a rush. It is so much fun. I too have been to the graveyards and
have been to the libraries.

I tell myself that it is for the grandchildren and their children. If
it is not done while people are alive to confirm it there is no way to
finish the tree.

I have many geneology buddies, some have written books. They are the
friendliest and most fun of all the people that I have met on the
internet.
answers5: I am like that too with Genealogy. I am always trying to
figure things out but I know that its going to be a lot of work but
work isn't a lot if you enjoy it right. Unfortunately I can't visit
the graves of my ancestors because most of them were buried back in
their hometowns. They were handled by funeral homes in the State that
I live so I can get access to their obituaries but they went back home
for burial. I wouldn't mind taking a trip to where my ancestors are at
and looking and bringing a camera with me to take some pics though. I
would love to do that. I know that there is a lot of History I am
going to need to learn in order to be real good that this.

Best Wishes!!
answers6: Genealogy can be very addicting, but don't let it consume
you. You are still very young. Do the things that 16 year olds do.
Have fun, laugh and experience life. Set aside a certain amount of
time to do your research and a certain amount of time for finding out
who you are. Being young is such a short amount of time. Your
ancestors have already etched their lives in time. Now is the time
for you to do the same.
answers7: No, I am not addicted to genealogy.
I have only been researching for 30 years, so I haven't reached that point yet.
