What are some good universities that focus on the performing arts?

answers1: Whenever I think of art school the first that comes to mind
is Juilliard but you can also look on ArtSchools.com an art school
directory
answers2: Julliard
Berkeley
Eagle Gate
Katherine Gibbs
Go to google they have a lot
answers3: In my opinion, as long as the school is accredited, it will
be good.
Really huge schools like Juilliard, Eastman, Northwestern, etc., will
have huge competition and will require a LOT of money. A LOT. I am not
discouraging you to apply there, what I am encouraging is you have a
backup plan in case the huge schools you apply to do not accept you.

Small schools can offer the same quality education as the huge ones,
but because of their size they are often overlooked.

What I recommend is you look up schools that you know of and are
within the radius you desire. Don't want to travel far from home?
Check out your state's "main" university to see what kind of arts
program they offer.
You first need to decide what you want out of your education.
Do you want to major in theatre and vocal performance? Major in
theatre performance but minor in vocal performance? Major in theatre
education and minor in vocal ed? Things like that.
Then decide what kind of community you want to live in.
Next, decide what kind of financial contributions you have and can
receive. Not only that, decide what kind of loans you are willing to
accept--meaning, decide your limit. Don't go overboard on loans
because in the arts career, right out of college you may not be making
a lot of money immediately and can't handle huge loan repayments. Also
contact the schools you are interested in to see what kind of
scholarships are available to you (keep up your GPA to receive
academic scholarships!)

So, buried in all of that, the best universities are the ones that
meet YOUR needs. If the university is prestigious but the community is
awful, your ability to learn may be impacted. You want to be in a
place that is best for you to learn so your money isn't wasted.

Now that you've read my thoughts, here are some colleges that I know
are good for performing arts (keep in mind I only know the ones
in/near the midwest):
Truman State University
University of Missouri
University of Central Missouri
University of Michigan
University of Indiana
Northwestern
Eastman
University of Iowa (I lean more towards their vocal/instrumental
department more than theatre)
Berklee
answers4: Temple University. U of Hartford/Hartt School of Music.
Boston University. NYU. SUNY Purchase. Juilliard. Run seraches for
colleges that offer a major in Musical Theater.
