A question about a special education degree...?

Daria Verfaillie: Find a college where you can get a BA in education (elementary or secondary) depending the age level of students you enjoy the most.Usually you get a minor in an area also, consider child psychology as the minor. There will be lots of beneficial usage for that while teaching. When you return to school to work on your MA degree, build on your education degree by specializing in an area of special education. In that area you will have course work that include assessment administration, analysis, interpretation and application. Working with special needs students requires designing instructional programs to meet their weaknesses and strengths. You need data of all kinds about the students to adequately do that well. Your plan of study, I think would be very suitable for what you want to do. The time frame depends on you. College is a 4 year endeavor. A Master's degree is a number of hours beyond the BA. If you stop work you could possible do it in a year .! If you go part-time and work, it depends on how many classes you can carry per session and do your job as a teacher well enough that the students don't suffer. I've seen too much of this type of exploitation . The Time table is left up to you. I think it is admirable to have your future in mind as a high school student. Full speed ahead....Show more

Romana Stiman: You could get a Dual Degree in Special Education / Child Physiology do you research to see what college or university offer a dual degree, then you could follow up with your Master Degree check with your local college/university. And it's good to plan ahead for college Hope this helps!
