Amina Motzer: a) I would assume you mean when is the probability that he will draw the 5th piece at least 50%. So, if he ! has 24 cards remaining, the percent chance of drawing the last piece increases by 1card*100%/24cards = 4.166667% greater chance. Thus, 50% chance occurs at 12 cards, and the 13th card will increase his chance to about 54.2%. So, I'd say he is likely to win by the 13th card.b) If it is starting his turn as he draws the 4th piece, then the next draw will be the opponent. Thus, when the opponent has drawn his 21 card (emptying his pile), then you will have drawn the 21st out of your remaining 24 cards. Since n is only greater than 21, the 21st card cannot be the win.
