do i need a higher education to work in a bank?

Lulu Bukowiecki: Most banks require only a high school diploma to become a teller. More responsible positions do require more education, but the bank is very likely to help you pay for any additional education you need. Go on the website for some banks in your area and see what's available.

Clement Viscarro: Actually quite the opposite. It isn't a very high paying job though. Once you get past teller you probably do though. In any case, you're better off with an education.

Alonso Crehan: that tells me you quit school....go back, graduate and put in an application at the bank. its hard for anybody to get a good paying and long lasting job without a h.s. diploma. it would even be better if you could get some college in your spare time(after you graduate from h.s., of course.)

Jude Colbenson: You need a higher education to be a more accomplished person.

Alonso Crehan: i do have a high school diplomia and i am in the nursing feild but not sure if i wa! nt to go back to school to be a rn or not just checking out my options thanks

Arlen Lopiccalo: If you want to be in the top posititions in the bank, such as financing, bank president etc, you need a degree. Being a teller doesn't require a degree, just basic math skills and tellers don't make much money, so if you are going to work for a bank...aim high.

Bryant Pillitteri: Not usually to be a teller. Just some experience with cash handling and some customer service skills. Then you can usually work your way up without schooling.

Russell Mckinzie: Most likely, you can get a job as a teller without a higher education and maybe work your way up, but I think that takes a long time depending on high you want to go. Work as a teller and go to school for Accounting or Business and that will help you move up faster because you will have the banking experience along with the education.

Marcel Then: Much of your question depends upon what in banking do you! want to do?Firstly, go to an occupational handbook on the int! ernet...there are many of them and they are free. Then find the key word search section and search on "banking". You will be able to identify many jobs within the bankin field and more importantly to your quesiton, you can identify what skills are used to do that job and what kind of education is typically required in order to get into that field! All the very best!...Show more
