when financial aid post to your account how long will it take them to send your excess money?

Melina Minneweather: Hi , My experience is that it depends on the college. Also several other factors are involved the status of your FA application There is a toll free numbers for all contacts including the college,FA, Dept of Education, also the lender and the studentloans.gov. You can find all your info several ways. You get a email from the school that they call reward letter,it will also come to your resident.Did you request it to be mailed to your resident or direct deposit? You do know that to recieve FA you much have a certain GPA.You can check out your school catalog. The answers from the other people here are correct also. The thing about cashing the check (disbursement) is the bank will hold it until 7,8 business days if you deposit it(my refund was mailed to me).The bank will wait for the response, which I have found out that they can call (but they do not)the toll free number to verify if Some check cash businesses will cash it after they get verification this! will only take 10-20 minutes. There will be a charge though. The pawn shop here cash it with a fee (depend on amount)or purchase some items. Let me know how it turn out....Show more

Valentine Michaud: Usually the grants and loans are posted to your college account on the scheduled disbursement dates. My daughter gets her per semester. The dates when they will get disbursed are posted on her college account and they are about 2 weeks before each semester. It does not all get posted at the same time. My daughter is a soph in college, almost a jr.

Elissa Curlin: Usually, 2-3 weeks from the day you receive your award letter and your payments are posted on your student account. Some schools may hold on to your refund until after the cut-off period. You should inquire with the financial aid office to be sure.

Abel Adger: some schools keep it until you ask for it...some mail it out within 48 hours...
