Will I still graduate in cap and gown even though I am home-schooled?

Hal Rouse: I think the first quesiton is do you get a graduation ceremony and if so where? The "Where" shoudl be able to tell you if you will or not.

Lorine Helwick: That depends on a lot of factors. In some states, the homeschool is associated with the public school and they offer the diploma. In others (like here in Texas), we are considered private schools and are independent of the public school district. You may want to check with your local homeschool group to see if they have some type of ceremony (some do, others don't). Otherwise, you may be out of luck.No biggie. I would have just as well forgone my own (public) HS graduation, but my parents wanted me there....Show more

Monroe Rainey: Nope. Sorry. Not unless you order a cap and gown from a costume shop.

Burt Cheevers: If your parents want to get you a cap and gown, I guess you could walk across your front porch. It appears that you will also be the valedictorian, so prepare a speech to gi! ve to your adoring family. Great news! You've just been voted Most Likely to Succeed by your classmate!

Bailey Lares: Check in your area for homeschool support groups. Many of them hold graduation ceremonies for local homeschool children. If that isn't an option, there is nothing stopping you from ordering your announcements and cap and gown from Jostens and have your family throw you a nice party!

Alexander Villas: Why should the local high school accommodate you??Your parents chose homeschooling.Have Mom & Dad issue your diploma.

Joeann Hoyt: I was homeschooled, and my school (A Beka) would let you go back to Florida and walk with your actual class. I also had a graduation party back home for family and friends, and had a cap and gown for that too. It all depends on how you want to do it...

Luis Farlow: I don't think that's possible ... sorry.

Julienne Poplawski: poor baby no wonder you don't understand life. home schooling is grea! t for 1-8 but to learn life you should have went to a real hig! hschool either public or private would have done. so sorry you've got to come out of your bubble.

Mack Ukich: yes you can... make sure you let your school know that you wantt o participate, I had the option and I was on independent study so I just let my teacher know. It shouldnt be a problem.

Susan Rambo: Usually if you are home schooled, I think you get your diploma mailed to you. Talk to your parents about having your own graduation and invite family and friends. =) Congratulations!!

Barrett Zheng: I was homeschooled and when I graduated we had a ceremony/party at my church. One of the ladies from the church had a cap and gown that I got to wear, my parents each said something at the ceremony as did our pastor, and I also had a brief time to talk about my experiences with homeschooling and share my plans for the future. It was great to be able to share and celebrate with all of my dear church family! Graduating isn't all about wearing a cap and gown! (although it is pretty cool), it's about what you have accomplished and what you are going on to accomplish. Congratulations on all your hard work!!! God bless!!!...Show more

Damaris Weiler: You haven't quite provided enough information. For what graduation and where? You need to tell us if it's a group event somewhere, something that's set up and you're allowed to go, too or whatever. Just because something is set up a certain way where you live doesn't mean it's like that everywhere.

Marjory Stromme: Yes they have special graduations just for people that are home schooled. Have you been to a homeschooling fair yet?

Tatiana Evanosky: If your parents are homeschooling you through an Independent Study Program the ISP director is who you want to ask. Many ISP's do have a commencement ceremony for each graduate class. Should yours not have one look for other ISP's and ask if you may join their ceremony.

Mitchell Pickens: So, your mom is going to hold a! graduation ceremony, just for you? Sounds odd.

Jana Sakasegawa:! it all depends on your school district. Contact your local high school and ask them since you are home schooled if it would be possible to attend graduation with the seniors in your class. Now that there is alot of townships accepting online/home schooling I realy dont think it would be a problem. You would have to contact them soon, most school have the office personal working in the summer. At the beginning of the school year is the fitting and paying for the cap and gown. You might even be able to get a school class ring that ordering is at the begining of the school year as well. Congrads on graduating!!!!!!!!!!!!!Hope this helps you and Good luck...Show more

Alonso Crehan: You'll have to check with your school. I heard some home schools have that, but mine didn't. No biggie.

Carmelina Enoch: Local homeschool groups often provide a graduation ceremony complete with cap and gown. You need to check out your local groups.

Soraya Coodey: Nope im sorry! unless you go to a public school for your Senior year!

Lia Argall: distinctive the time the internet college isn't close sufficient to attend a ceremony whether they did carry one. maximum homeschoolers that choose the journey of being surpassed their degree on state accomplish that with the aid of an area homeschool team or they carry a small inner maximum reception.
