What are some chronic medical diseases?
Antonia Quinnett: How about dementing diseases like Alzheimer's? They can make it necessary for a patient to live in an assisted-living facility, but insurance won't pay for it (my dad's was about $3000/month, but there are places that cost much more than that). Medicaid will only pay once they get sick enough to have to go to a nursing home. Often the family's resources are wiped out by then.
Hermina Ketring: arthritis, diabetes, high blood pressure, hepa a,b,c,d and cancer
Jonathon Labonne: Diabeties, Hart disease,Cancer,HIV,HepatitesB,TB,
Thurman Buege: Along the same line many mental diseases/conditions don't have much coverage. There are plenty ranging from epilepsy to narcolepsy. While these aren't what most people think of when speaking about 'chronic' diseases, they are chronic in the fact that they are long lasting and rarely curable.
Rosalia Hibler: Sinusitus is a very common condition that results in severe headaches. Once established! it is extremly difficult to cure. Most often, the only cure is a surgicial procedure requiring cutting into the patients sinuses, typically through the cheek bones, to scrape the sinus cavaties of the patient.
Shaquita Wernicki: 1. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome - affects thousands of work age people and there is no coverage or money for research even though it is a disease according to the CDC.2. Ehler-Danlos Syndrome - there are differing levels of it, but it affects children's joints and makes it pretty painful as an adult. IT is a connective tissue disease.3. Alzheimer's disease has lots of coverage - it is a sad disease but well known.4. Mental health - despite the increase in medications available to treat mental health issues - there are not enough beds in hospitals to treat people. Ronald Reagan closed the psych hospitals, now there is no where to put someone in distress. We don't need to ''warehouse'' the mentally ill, but when someone is in distress and trying to ! kill themselves they need a specialized type of care in a psyc! h ward!!...Show more
Azalee Ahrendes: Eating disorders!!!!!!!! I am going to die of mine if I don't get treatment.my insurance won't pay for anymore treatment and my parents can,t afford it!
