Whats a good movie on Humanities?

answers1: If you want good movie that illustrates human drama, and
human nature, then I would suggest 2 classics: <br>
1. The Treasure Of The Sierra Madre (1948). Greed is one of the key
aspects covered. <br>
2. 12 Angry Men (1957). Has many facets of humanities in this one. <br>
Both are great films to see for any reason, and would be good for your
assignment. I think the teacher would be impressed if you selected
either of those two items. <br>
If you are looking for something more recent, then try Apollo 13
(1995). Hope and desperation are key to this movie.
answers2: I often end up asking the same thing on other sites
answers3: Kingdom of Heaven <br>
Gladiator <br>
Titanic <br>
Slumdog Millionaire <br>
The Help
answers4: The Great Gatsby or The Hunger games

what does Humanities & Interdisciplinary mean?

answers1: What Does Humanities Mean
answers2: This Site Might Help You. <br>
<br>
RE: <br>
what does Humanities & Interdisciplinary mean? <br>
well i am going to a high school in newyork and the program is really
ment for Humanities & Interdisciplinary &gt;&gt; I at truth don;t even
know what it means it just say&#39;s it focus on sciences math, arts,
history, music, and literture....i don&#39;t know what it really means
though i mean i...
answers3: it's a broad range of courses that gives you a little bit of
everything. humanities is usually arts, philosophy, etc...light social
sciences. interdisciplinary again means courses that apply to various
career paths. if it's just at the high school level, then it's like
most other high schools, and you get a wide variety of courses that
give you a good foundation for college.
answers4: Humanities means that it's more of a social study.
Interdisciplinary means that it encompasses several different studies
altogether. I am a geography major. That is an interdisciplinary
study. It includes politics, biology, oceanography, climatology,
anthropology, geography, and several other subjects.
answers5: Hey there! Someone in my Facebook group shared this question
so I came to give it a look. I'm definitely enjoying the information.
I am book-marking and will be tweeting this to my followers!
answers6: For the best answers, search on this site <a
href="https://shorturl.im/avp6S"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>https://shorturl.im/avp6S</a> <br>
<br>
Originally, "humanities" meant fields of study that dealt with human
beings as opposed to theological studies. Nowadays it is usually
understood to include the arts and social sciences.
"Interdisciplinary" means methods of research and study that span two
or more academic "disciplines" or subjects. For example the history of
science could be thought of as an interdisciplinary field because it
requires knowledge and investigation of both history and science.

Art classes for photography!!! Help...!?!?

answers1: i might say take your artwork type and then basically
examine your instruction manual and make certain your lights and
environment are sturdy for the digital camera to take your photograph
of. that may not too difficult and you sound such as you relish
artwork so i might say do the artwork one and in case you're able to..
get somebody who is familiar with a thank you to take photos to take
the photos for you.. you have a great threat at convalescing your
artwork.
answers2: Photography is a *form* of art. You don't necessarily have

What is the difference between altered art and recycled art?

answers1: Actual, pure art is not for a certain purpose. It's purpose
is different depending on who is experiencing the art. Art is an
expression open to any and all interpretation. It cannot be recycled
or altered. It just is. Its alive.

Can art be defined? What is your definition of art?

answers1: I think it is defined by everybody who has a relationship
to the term as an admirer or as a maker. For me art is playing and
something that I do all the time. I was a Creative art therapist at
one point in my life and agree with your definition within that
discipline but for myself I would make it much broader than that. <br>
Me chalking my first hopscotch pitch for a group of us to play on was
a great piece of artwork technically and creatively. I like to think I
did a good functional job as well as creating performance art. <br>
So maybe I'd say ,as an artist; I am art - all I do is art - all I
see feel hear touch is art because I live a life that way out and make
it so.
answers2: One of the many ways of expressing yourself. It's everything
you feel, everything you've wanted or needed to say, but couldn't put
into words. <br>
<br>
I like your definition a lot xox
answers3: Art to me is defining yourself in a way words can't express.
Unless your drawing something specifically, art is always an
expression of self.
answers4: Art is easily defined: It´s everything that is created by
humans. Well at least that's my take on this.
answers5: Art is just an expression. Any form of expression with
creativity is art.

of whether your job is in the field that you studied. Im doing a
trainee accounts programme whilst working & get a salary payment from
the government every month. Good luck!!! Why not even think about
starting something up yourself?

Do I need to bring my books to the first day of college?

answers1: It's not so serious that you need to be worried about being
the only one with books. I'd bring them, but only take in the ones
you need for the specific class and leave the rest in your car. In
between classes you can go to your car and swap out so you don't have
to carry them all around. <br>
<br>
On the first day the prof. will usually just review the syllabus and
what she expects out of you for the class, but some will dive into
coursework on the first day especially if the class only meets once
per week. <br>
<br>
I always try to look studious and give the impression that I care so
the professor will favor me so I would advice bringing the books for
that reason. Good luck with school!!!!!!
answers2: I'm starting my first day of community college tomorrow too!
And don't worry you're not the only one that's nervous ;) <br>
<br>
I've talked to a few people and do think that it's better to bring
your books if you have them, just because. But if it really makes you
less comfortable, it's not horrible to not bring your books. I'm not
bringing my books because I have them ordered but not sent home yet.
And professors don't really expect you to have them really. There are
still people who are deciding whether or not to drop the class. <br>
<br>
Hope your first day goes well.
answers3: I wouldn't bring your books. The first day of class is
almost always just the professor handing out and discussing the
syllabus and introducing him/herself. A lot of kids don't even buy
their books until after they see whether or not they want to stay in
the class. <br>
<br>
Good luck!
answers4: You won't be the only one with all of your books and you
won't be the only 16 year old - especially this time of year. Many of
your classmates won't turn 17 before December. <br>
<br>
I always expect everyone to have their books on the first day of
class. That's how I know we all have them and that we have the right
book. I'd especially expect to need the math book and probably the
visual arts book. Many professors have given up on that expectation
and won't expect everyone to have a book. You don't really know which
you have until you get there. <br>
<br>
If that English professor jumps right into teaching then you'll need
that English book. <br>
<br>
If your classes aren't back-to-back and you have a little break
between then leave the books you aren't using in the car - stop by the
car between classes. <br>
<br>
If they are back-to-back then you'll need a bookbag of some sort to
haul them all in until you know for sure you won't need them. <br>
<br>
You never stand out negatively by having all of your materials - you
stand out negatively when you (and a small group of classmates) have
to beg around to read along on someone else's book. <br>
<br>
If you didn't think of it already - that math class probably needs a
calculator. Have a back-up too. And get a really cheap one from the
drug store for those people that didn't think they'd need a calculator
in math class and want to share yours.
answers5: Many people may not buy their books until after the first
class, so you wouldn't be out of place if you didn't bring your books.
In general, you will probably want to have the math book with you,
because you will be doing problems from it and will want to follow
along. You may not need the others in class at all.h

How to do graphical art?

answers1: Well, not around here. <br>
<br>
This is 'Performing Arts', and 'Graphic Arts' would be under 'Visual
Arts'... sub category. <br>
<br>
If you are into 'art', fine art, drawing, painting, computer software
program creatives, photography, 3D, graphics, texture presentations,
illustration, cartooning, product design, fashion design, interior
design... of any level and experience... then present something that
no one else might do as well or something over the top you can...
<br>
<br>
... in order to 'impress' anyone who will really appreciate or
question, "What the heck...?" <br>
<br>
Just, do something you are capable of, and comfortable with in the end. <br>
<br>
Use your brain, as well as what level of desire, interest and ability
you have for now. <br>
<br>
What CAN you do?

Contemporary art: Is painting visual culture symbols on cobblestone a concept in Paris ?

answers1: Yes, this is an interesting idea. <br>
<a href="http://culturexy.blogspot.com"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://culturexy.blogspot.com</a>
answers2: Very interesting indeed....I do not know how to answer the
question about is painting visual culture symbols..etc.......but
apparently the question would be yes. Some times in this part of the
country, we do the same thing only on a larger scale....decorate the
side of a building with something that we want people to be aware
of....such as a historic event, or something that a city is known
for....etc. etc. I think that this is a very good way to promote
culture as long as it is done in good taste....Sure beats
tagging......God bless....Nomadic
answers3: I like the idea of the cobblestones on cobblestone one en
situ because it would make you stop and think. <br>
The packaging/advertising ones work too because they appear to have
been thrown away. <br>
The others although well executed do not work quite so well when
returned to the street but are interesting as works of art in their
own right. <br>
Painting on stone goes back to the beginnings of time and a modern
twist like this is very interesting. The only problem I can see is if
you acheived the same status as Banksy for example the works would,
especially as they are so portable be quickly destroyed or spirited
away.

Which of the fine arts most interests you: music, visual arts, or drama and dance?

answers1: As a musician myself, I'm gonna say music. <br>
<br>
:)
answers2: song ; i'm able to't get sufficient of it. It makes me wanna
get up and shake my head to the beat/rhythm, it gadgets the temper for
relaxin' and only letting each and every little thing loose, and on an
identical time it could spark creativity in others or cause them to
think of of particular subjects they in no way somewhat cared for.
that's life.
answers3: Music and visual arts <br>
<br>
I wish somebody had pushed me more in the fine arts when I was
younger. I want to learn how to play an instrument and I'm kind of
good at drawing, if I had some practice I could be a decent artist I
think

Need advice regarding studying Visual Arts at University?

answers1: i might say London, or it extremely is my own opinion a
minimum of. a lot of their underground trend is so dope and you will
meet a lot much less hypebeasts in London than you will in manhattan.
I in simple terms think of the line trend in London is grand.
extremely super designers come from the college of Arts London, yet
manhattan produce some distinctly super people too.
answers2: I have a Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Fine Arts. In
painting and sculpture respectively. I enter college with the
intention of majoring in art with no previous training in it during
high school. However the short period of time between high school the
beginning of college I became phenomenally very interested in art,
something that even to this day I find to be a curious event. <br>
I took to the subject like a fish to water. <br>
School for me exposed me to art history,art
theory,criticism,philosophy and a myriad of other topics there were
not related to art.Also being exposed to all of this gave me
perspective as to what the possibilities were in art and broadened my
understanding of what was reasons behind the creation of art. <br>
Learning about art history,which I found sometimes to be
boring,especially the periods that I didn't find interesting, did
however afford me an understanding of the development of art through
the ages. The reasons works were produced,the history surrounding the
periods in which they were produced,and how each period beget the next
and why. All this building toward art work that is being produced
today. It is all connected, whether one is familiar with the history
or not. <br>
Having studied art,for me,has broaden my understanding of the human
experience or history. Art literally illustrates that history of life.
<br>
As to making a living? That is the challenge I guess. I personally
have had to teach to have a steady income. But do earn money from the
creation of my art work,not enough to support myself, but enough to
make my involvement worth while.

Straight acting gays or Masculine acting gay guys?

answers1: Why not just label us all "gay guys?"
answers2: I prefer "masculine gay"/"feminine lesbian." The "acting" is
not necessary, as it too implies that it's not how they naturally are.
answers3: I think it's harmful to engage in the label. Men who are
more masculine and are able to hide in the closet often ridicule gay
men who may be more flamboyant or feminine, and men who can casually
pass as straight are given a false pedestal in the community. Gay men
are gay men, there shouldn't any distinction.
answers4: Hey man. Just take out the word 'acting' and it makes more
sense. But ur rigt on w the 'str8 acting' being dumb as he[[. U can be
gay and be masc but u cant be gay and be srt8. ;) good luck/peace
answers5: Maybe this will help. <br>
<br>
<a href="http://funknbeans.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/gender-bread-man.jpeg"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://funknbeans.com/wp-content/uploads...</a>
answers6: true, never though about it like that, just use the term. <br>
<br>
Its not acting if its who they are.
answers7: Both are kinda silly. I don't use either. I'm just me. Most
times it's more masculine but depending on how I feel, I can be a
little more feminine. Not outright girly, but, you know, I have my
moments. lol Point is, I don't call it anything specific. It's just
me. <br>
<br>
I even know actual straight guys who have "feminine" moments. I find
it comical because one might take it as "gay" but no, it's just human
nature. Perfectly normal.
answers8: I prefer masculine. Straight acting implies that someone
acts differently based on their sexuality. Which isn't true.
answers9: I think gay is descriptive enough, so that the whole thing
doesn't get over analyzed. Gay is gay. From there consider the person,
not the demeanor.

How can I stop acting trashy and immature?

answers1: Just start acting for seriously
answers2: You have already made the first step in the right direction
kiddo. First recognizing you do not like how you act. And secondly
asking for help. I just got this idea. I can tell by the presentation
of your question you are intelligent so here's what you do. Write down
every scenario you want to change. I mean like #1. Meet a guy in the
hall at school. USUAL BEHAVIOR: Cuss, talk dirty etc <br>
Then write HOW I WANT TO BEHAVE: write out what you are going to say
as your new person. <br>
Think of it as acting school. Memorize you new lines for every
situation you want to change. After a while it will becomes so much a
part of you that you don't even have to look at your notes. ha What
you are actually attempting to do darling is change your own universe.
It is miraculous that we have the power to do this by simply choosing
to do it. AND people will have a new respect for you and change how
they act around you.Wow. The Butterfly Affect. Did you see that movie?
A butterfly flutters it's wings on the other side of the world and has
it's effect around the world. It's true. We came into this "Time
Capsule" here on Earth with the power of choice. Our words have the
power of life and death. I applaud you for your tremendous desire to
change your life for the better. Be strong and be patient with your
self. Change will come if you are determined and consistent. Ever hear
that old saying..."Birds of a feather flock together"? Or how about...
"You are know by the company you keep" Be prepared to lose some and
gain some. You are saving your self a world of heartache. I am happy
for you. <br>
ox <br>
Pat <br>
P.S. You are what you eat too. To be able to be calm in class easier
do just a few basic changes to your eating habits. No
caffeine....destroys your nervous system. Cut down or in a perfect
world cut out all processed foods...or as in the real world of you
can't stop the bad at least add some living foods! Raw fruit and
vegetables and raw nuts like pecans or almonds! It cures depression
too. Your weight will balance out and you will feel GOOD for a
change. And when you feel good it is easier to make good choices. You
go girl! Write me when you become Mrs. President!
answers3: Just stop acting that way. Try to act more serious and mature.

Acting jobs? Or acting agents?

answers1: Getting into acting costs a huge amount of money - several
years of classes, travelling and so on. And as almost all actors only
ever get 2 or 3 weeks' paid work a year, this is never going to be a
good way to help your family. I'm so sorry - it's a lovely idea, but
it can't work. <br>
<br>
To become an actor takes many years of attending a really good stage
school, and getting years of experience, and even after that the
chances of you getting any paid work is tiny. <br>
Agents are never interested in beginners - only professionals. <br>
<br>
And is there really a place called St Louse? A louse is like a flea
or a bug! I've never heard of it, anyway.
answers2: Craiglist has alot of acting jobs.. But most of them are scams..
answers3: It's good that you want to help your family. However, the
harsh truth is that you can't expect to just jump into show business
and start making a ton of money. If you have no acting experience, or
very little experience, you might be able to get roles in school
plays, community theatre plays, and other non-paying gigs. But you
won't be able to get paid acting work. And if you don't have training
-- acting lessons at good, reputable schools -- and lots of
experience, you won't be able to get a good agent. <br>
<br>
You can make professional acting a long-term goal and start working
toward that goal by taking classes and gaining experience in
non-paying roles. But if you need to make money in the short term,
you'll have to find some other way.
answers4: Why provide Cognito a thumbs down? fact hurts? Cognito and
Baxterville are top. brokers--genuine brokers--do not take earnings
improve. They take a decrease of their customer's earnings as quickly
as the customer receives paid for a job. as a effect, they paintings
very not consumer-friendly to hit upon the customer auditions and
pass-sees. although, the agent only helps facilitate the auditions. it
relatively is as much as the actor/sort/singer, etc. to easily land
the activity. consequently, except you have had some previous
adventure or indication which you're marketable, maximum solid brokers
won't even inspect somebody devoid of previous adventure (even a team
of beginner appearing roles can count form). i might take that
settlement to a attorney if I have been you. have you ever any concept
what you signed? and how previous are you? while you're nevertheless a
minor, you won't have the ability to sign something. meanwhile, seek
for "open auditions"--you do not go with an agent for those. Many
cities have interior of reach beginner--community theater--agencies
that positioned on performs. attempt out for those so which you've
something on your resume. do not ignore getting any sort of coaching
you go with as far as making a music, dancing, appearing, etc. yet pay
attention! There are scam colleges too!

How movies are running in the theatres?

answers1: Um if i'm not mistaken at the movie theatre i work at they
are keys!!!!
answers2: Some theaters are still using film reels. But most these
days are using digital technology, DLP is the big one trending right
now, which is a technology created by Texas Instruments.

Saturday, 12 October 2019

Why do some movies come out in movie theaters while others don't?

answers1: The company behind the movie decides first. For example
Warner Bros funds a movie, the movie is made, actors paid etc. If the
company watch the finished product and don't like it then it is put
out straight to DVD. However the movie theaters also decide, they pay
for the screening of every movie in every theatre. A film like Harry
Potter, or most romcoms have a large audience, so the movie theatre
know they can make back most of the money and earn profit. Other
movies however are more niche, they appeal to a smaller audience, for
example indie movies, so sometimes they show at just a few theaters,
or the theatre doesn't buy rights for the movie at all, though another
company might.

what are the differences between greek theatre and modern theatre. please expound on you answers?

answers1: There are many differences. Greek theater had a chorus,
which sang and likely danced. The arrangement of the stage was
completely different, featuring a single building with a large
entrance on to the stage, a crane to bring divine characters in on a
higher level, a dancing area for the chorus, and so on. Actors were
all male and performed in masks; there were few actors available for
the playwright's use (two or later three could be on stage at a time).
Plays were put on at civic/religious festivals, not as standalone
productions, and cycles of four plays (three tragedies and a comic
satyr play) by the same author were performed. The list could go on
for a while.
answers2: You needed three things for Greek Theatre. They are an
audience, performers and something to perform. It is the same with
modern theatre. It has not changed in twenty five hundred years.
answers3: In ancient Greece the theaters here HUGE, so actors had to
focus on being loud. They also wore masks.
answers4: A friend and I did this for a short answer in school- <br>
<br>
Greek theater was very different from modern theater. Greeks only did
two types of dramas- tragedy and comedy. Today we still do those but
have a lot more like musical theater. Also a comedy back then means
something different form now. In Ancient Greece a comedy meant a happy
ending while a tragedy was a sad ending. Today a tragedy kinda means
the same but a comedy means something funny. Also only men were
allowed to preform, even the women roles. Today both men and women are
on stage. Then lastly, greeks did dramas for religious festivals,
today we do it for many reasons. <br>
<br>
Lol-sorry if its bad, hope it helped!

How many movie theaters are in the united states?

answers1: You are correct about The Dark Knight being the widest
release. That is partly due to more theaters being open today than 10
years ago. 18,000 is still a high figure. If The Dark Knight was in
4366 theaters at one time then it would make sense that the total
number of theaters in the US would not be 18,000. That would mean less
than 25% of theaters carried that film and you know that is false.
<br>
<br>
AMC Theatres <br>

movie came out in the most movie theaters ever?

Dragon), but oftentimes they don't get releases as big as Hollywood

around for theaters near you that will be playing them.

what is your definition of poetry?

answers1: Not an easy thing to define. Poetry can be quite technical
such as a sonnet which has an acutal rhyme scheme and poetic beat.
However, poetry can also be song lyrics, jingles and even advertising.
Poetry can be dark and mysterious and or dangerous. Poetry can be
these things but not always. Poetry makes something stick in your
head. Think of the lyrics to songs that you know by heart. These
are poetry. And advertising jingles..people are paid a good deal of
money to make a jingle stick in your head and buy the product. Poetry,
to me, is a medium that moves you to action whether it is tears,
happiness, singing or buying a product. Poetry is huge whether it is
about emotions or being used to exploit your pocketbook. What would
make a song memorable other than the poetic lyrics. Combine the sound
with the poetry and you have smash hit.
answers2: Expression of feelings, stories, a form of art, a way to
clear your head.
answers3: For me, poetry is a passion and therapy so I offer this
which kinda relates to yer details, (somewhat) <br>
<br>
Imagine someone able to reach into themselves, pulling out their
brains and souls, (virtually of course) then staining a bit of paper
with those bleeding emotions, creating something with words.
answers4: Good Poetry, should be the ultimate in sharing. The ability
to instill in others, an emotion which drives them to react, be it in
admiration or repulsion, as they realise they too, have felt such
things as you describe.

From which country does the best poetry come from?

answers1: Iran! Rumi is the greatest poet who ever lived.
answers2: I personally like the older poetry from Australia - you
can't beat Banjo Patterson and Henry Lawson, especially when they are
arguing with each other in poetry. I know Banjo romanticises the
Australian bush, but I think he captures the Australian spirit really
well in his poems.
answers3: Iran of course, Rumi is my favourite.
answers4: Each has their own strengths. <br>
<br>
For me the condensed meaning and imagery in Japanese poetry; <br>
the wisdom of Native American Poetry <br>
and the passion of Spanish, Colombian or Peruvian Poetry
answers5: you wrote : I personally like Persian poetry the most <br>
<br>
do you know why? <br>
because of the syllabic structure <br>

in Farsi : we have C V C C <br>
in English we have : C C C V C C C C <br>
(C=consonant) and (V=vowel) <br>
so you see that Faresi syllabic structure is more easily than English... <br>
that cause the persian poems fit in ryhme and stanza.. <br>
<br>
I like Persian poetry too , and have no Idea about From which country
does the best poetry come from..

of Hafez, Rumi, et al. All study the human condition in amazingly
direct manners. <br>

desire to pass at the same time a technique or the different, yet they
do no longer would desire to be linked in any way. purely save them in

distinctive, to boost your possibilities...I enter the President's
Writing Award each and each twelve months, and the poetry is provided
consistent with ALL 3 at the same time. The judges seem to make
certain who became in the superb poetry common, even though if or no

deep yet understandable philosophy books?

answers1: I noticed this too in college when I took a course in
Philosophy, that it was far more difficult reading than it needed to
be. <br>
Recently I've been trying to plow through Metaphysics, Readings and
Reappraisals, edited by Kennick and Lazerowitz, which includes many
great philosophers, Plato, Descartes, Spinoza, Kant, Aquinas, and so
on, but I wouldn't recommend it either. Same problem! <br>
I hope someone has a book suggestion that explains in layman's terms
just how these philosophers thought.
answers2: I think you need to start easier. <br>

Do they teach you greek philosophy in Norway?

answers1: It might be worth posting a copy of this question in a
Norway section (eg there may be one related to languages or history).
<br>
<br>
They for sure will have philosophy students studying it at University,
although the Greek philosophy is very ancient - Aristotle, Plato,
Socrates, the Stoics, the Cynics. So the philosophy is normally more
recent stuff. <br>
<br>
At school level possibly they might have qualifications in philosophy
at school level, but if it's like the UK not many State schools would
offer that as an option.

What was Ayn Rand's philosophy?

answers1: Ayn Rand's philosophy was Objectivism. Basically it states,
that we all exist. That we all think and from that we get from that is
our property. It is not logical to give your property to other's
because it is your happiness you work for. <br>
<br>
I am. I think. I will. My hands. My spirit. - Ayn Rand <br>
<br>
Capitalism and being selfish came after her idea that logic trumps all.
answers2: Ayn Rand's so-called philosophy was not worth wasting time
on, that's what it was.

BS in Philosophy degree?

answers1: Yes, mostly. I mean, you could also get a B.A. in creative
or formal writing (English) and be a writer. When it comes down to
it, everything is philosophy. That is why the doctoral version of
most every discipline is a Ph.D. (Doctor of philosophy in...
something). <br>
<br>
Basically you would be limited to getting your teaching certificate at
the Bachelor's level and teaching K-12. If you got your Master's, you
might could teach at a junior college. Get your doctorate.. teach at
a university. <br>
<br>
When you think about EVERYTHING being a philosophy (for instance --
bio-logy is bio-logos [logos being Greek for reason]), you would be
better off majoring in some discipline and getting a minor in
philosophy if you so choose. That would make you more marketable in
the workforce. <br>
<br>
But if you want to be a philosophy teacher, go the graduate route. <br>
<br>
Do remember that Immanuel Kant never had more than a Bachelor's
degree. And if he's not a philosopher, then I don't know who is. :)
answers2: You could be a movie critic. <br>
Philosophy is not for "real life" situations.

What is the point of philosophy?

answers1: For as long as man has recorded his thoughts in some
fashion, philosophy has enabled him to gain a better understanding of
himself, his peers & the many aspects of his environment.
answers2: Philosophy is not just a course of study. It is a way of
training your mind to think in an open manner. Through philosophy,
you can discover new ways to think about life and how to make use of
it. You are able to see things that many people will miss. It can
help you to find a peace in understanding, a tranquility in reason,
and a find an honest approach to dealing with others.
answers3: Philosophy is the love of wisdom. The point of philosophy is
to learn how to live our lives more wisely than we are living them
right now. <br>
<br>
All other branches of study have branched out from philosophy. The
first philosophers investigated how wisdom applied to all fields of
thought and endeavor. They studied science, art, music and
mathematics, for example. <br>
<br>
Over time, people began to specialize in those things that interested
them the most. A scientist is a philosopher who has specialized in
science. An artist is a philosopher who has specialized in art. A
musician is a philosopher who has specialized in music. A
mathematician is a philosopher who has specialized in mathematics.
<br>
<br>
This is why the highest degree you can achieve in virtually any field
is a Ph.D. in that field --- Ph.D. means "Doctor of Philosophy." So
you can get a Ph.D. in Science, a Ph.D. in Art, a Ph.D. in Music or a
Ph.D. in Mathematics. <br>
<br>
They are all exploring how to improve in their particular field. They
are seeking the wisdom of their particular field. The general
philosopher is seeking how to improve the way he or she lives life in
general. <br>
<br>
Philosophy is the attempt to become more conscious, to live an
examined life. Without it, people just repeat their mistakes and their
unconscious or self-destructive behaviors. <br>
<br>
It is unfortunate that in our western society many of the famous
philosophers have been unable to overcome their patriarchal bias. They
have emphasized the mind and devalued the heart. Their search for
wisdom has gone off course, since wisdom comes from the balance of
mind and heart.
answers4: Philosophy helps put things into perspective. It's a
supporting factor of life.
answers5: Philosophy has been a Major role in the world for thousands
of years. How it effects us now and in the future will be unknown
however I think it could be very Valuable
answers6: I believe that the greatest philosopher of the 20th century
was Douglas Adams who searched for the ultimate question of life, the
universe in everything through his characters in the Hitchhiker's
Guide to the Galaxy. The ultimate answer was 42 which I believe to be
42 words spoken by Slartibartfast, Counting the contractions as two
words you get the most enlightened 42 words ever written "...the
chances of finding out what's actually going on are so absurdly remote
that the only thing to do is to say, 'Hang the sense of it,' and keep
yourself busy. I'd much rather be happy than right any day."
Therefore, the ultimate question is "Would you rather be right or
happy?"
answers7: Personally, I believe my philosophy class drew me closer to
my beliefs. I listened to what the teacher said first. Then I broke it
all down. Surprisingly, I was drawn right back to what I believed in
the first place. I think philosophy is very useful, but it can also be
very confusing for those who are not yet certain about their beliefs.
answers8: As a study, it allows the individual to grow intellectually
by understanding the different views pertaining to the particular
topic. In the academic aspect, it does provide for some interesting
material for English Comp courses... so its not completely pointless.
answers9: It is stupid and is nothing but one person's opinion, so
therefore philosophy is basically a lie since it is not based of
actual concrete facts. The point of philosophy is that there is none.
It is a study made to make people feel good about themselves and the
way they think. There is absolutely no and i repeat NO point to
philosophy.
answers10: Clear thoughts, logical and clear concepts, minus
confusions. Most problems are arising from unclear concepts, and
confusions, fetishisms as well as spurious egos. <br>
<br>
Indian Philosophy shall ask one to transcend ego, self and all mundane
things, and once this is a possibity, where shall be problems? Now; is
Philosophy pointless at all?
